Propecia Rally New Zealand will be the first entry into the New Zealand Rally Championships for Turner Motorsport and their Lancer Evo V. Dylan Turner and his co-driver Sara Warrington will be lining up with the best in the world on the April event, a life-long dream for Dylan Turner.

The team have purchased the ex-Sean Gray Lancer Evo V, last seen on the 2002 Rally New Zealand with "Showgirls" sponsorship. The car suffered a 4th gear roll due to a failed ball-joint, and the shell has required a major rebuild to get it ready for this years event.

Thanks to Mal Lowry and his team, the car has had the roof and front right damage repaired in record time. The car is to be re-painted in the Turner Motorsport "yellow" and will then be pieced back together for a shakedown test in Huntly on the 8th March.

But Turner Motorsport have their work cut out to get it ready in time - "We are up against the clock already, as we have a road booked to allow us to the test the car and suspension. There is no option but to have it ready."

"This is a big change for us, as we have run Subaru's for the last 5 yrs, but it is going to be a fantastic experience. I am told the Lancers are very different to drive from the Legacy, a lot straighter through the corners, so the test day will allow me to get accustomed to that change", says Dylan.

Turner Motorsport will be running in the very competitive Group N field, competing along side drivers such as multiple Australian and Asia Pacific Champion Possum Bourne, 1984 World Champion Stig Bolmqvist, Chris West and Deborah Kibble to name a few.

"We are aiming to finish as high as possible, but we are very aware that the category is very competitive, and we are also in a new car. So each day we will re-assess our strategy, and look for a top 30 finish", said Dylan, "At present we haven't got any sponsorship signed up, but we are hopeful that by the end of March we will have some secured for the rest of the year."

Turner Motorsport would like to thank Len Dillon at the Waikato District Council for organising the road and the road closures for our test day.

Til next time.
