Turner Motorsport's
pairing of Dylan Turner and Sara Warrington have finished day one
in a solid 53rd overall, after a day of attrition in the field.
"Today
the roads were to put it into one word, fantastic. We had a slight
issue with the rain, as we were prepared for the fine weather that
the met service had predicted, which didn't eventuate," said
Dylan Turner
On Stage three
the team had a bit of a fright, "We came over a bridge, and
I gave the car some power, and the tail kicked out and brushed the
concrete on the edge, which had my heart in my throat for a while
as I thought we had taken off the rear bumper," explained Dylan.
The afternoon
stages we again run in overcast and showery conditions, which meant
the roads were quite cut up by the time the team arrived to start
the stage. Also the afternoon stages were a repeat of the mornings
first 4 stages.
"On stage
six we got caught out a little on a right-hander", explained
Dylan. " The car jumped out of the rut, and bounced across
the road in the bank. It wasn't a large impact but it did some damage
and gave us a real fright".
The car then
had 3 stages to complete before it had the end of day 45min service
where the team straightened the guard, fixed the light and gave
the car a pad change, to be ready for Day 2 of Propecia Rally New
Zealand.
Saturday sees
the team tackle the infamous Parahi / Araroa stage, a huge 59kms
long and another 6 special stages before the overnight Parc Ferme
in Sky City.
