Turner Motorsport's
pairing of Dylan Turner and Sara Warrington have finished the 2003
Propecia Rally New Zealand in 38th place overall, 8th New Zealander
and 3rd New Zealand Group N.
"Sara and
I are absolutely rapt with our finish. Many other teams went missing
over the course of the event, and we were able to keep it clean
and come up with this fantastic result on our first Rally New Zealand",
commented Dylan.
The event wasn't
without its problems. The car had the wrong tires on Day One, along
with a slight off on SS6, which caused slight damage to the front
left.
Day Two brought
slightly better conditions and a steady drive until the rain soaked
Manukau Super Stage.
"We left
Paparoa service on dry tyres, as we had been speaking to people
in Auckland, and the consensus was the weather had been fine and
the stage would be hard packed. When we arrived it had been raining
quite hard, and the stage had turned into a slippery mess. On our
second run we under steered into the barrier, and hit our right
hand front quite hard, causing some damage to the oil cooler",
explained Dylan.
The pair then
had a nervous drive to service the next morning in Te Kauwhata where
the team decided not to change the oil cooler, and the pair continued
on for the rest of the day to a steady well deserved 3rd New Zealand
Group N, 8th New Zealander and 38th overall.
"I would
like to thank my team of Pete, Ray, Jeremy, Bill, Brian, Ian and
Simon for their hard work. They kept me on the road and the car
in perfect condition all weekend."
Dylan, Sara
and the rest of the team would like to thank - LJ Hooker, AB Panel
and Paint, Prestige Motorsport, South Pacific Racewear, Chiropractic
& Sport, and Kempy's Bitza Mitzy's.
Til next time.
