Hi All
The Performance
Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team head south again this
weekend for the southern most rally in the 2004 Parker-ENZED New
Zealand Rally Championship, the Ascot
Park Rally of Southland.
The team fly
in on Friday afternoon, and the car should arrive mid afternoon
in Invercargill. Recce is on Saturday and the Ascot Park Rally of
Southland starts in Invercargill at 7.20am on Sunday morning, with
competitors tackling 12 stages covering 180 kilometres of special
stage before finishing at the Ascot Park Hotel around 4.30pm.
The Southland
Rally has probably the biggest variation of weather of all the
rounds in the series this year.
"Sara and
I are really looking forward to the new roads, and with the car
back to full power, we can have a real go this weekend. We have
new Dunlop tyres to choose from which should suit the conditions,
but it will all come down to the weather forecast closer to the
event to dictate which ones we will use.
"With the
long range forecast for rain, the event could be quite wet and the
roads could get cut up and very slippery. Add in the fact snow is
always a possibility on some of the higher stages, and we have a
real task ahead making the correct tyre choice for each group of
stages." explained Turner.
Since Otago
the Performance Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport Evo 5 has
been at Dave Ward Mechanical in Dunedin for a mechanical refresh
after the engine problems experienced at the Rally of Otago.
"The car
has spent the last week at Dave Ward Mechanical in Dunedin, where
Greg has been carrying out the mechanical repairs that were required
after Otago. They replaced the head gasket and have fixed a brake
booster problem, and after a road test Greg has proclaimed the car
to be ready to go. So a big thanks to the guys down there for there
help and assistance."
The team would
like to thank the our sponsors for the 2004 Parker-ENZED New Zealand
Rally Championship, Performance Finance and Leasing, LJ Hooker Manurewa,
AB Panel and Paint, Kempy's Bitsa Mitsi, and Chiropractic and Sport."
Til next time.
