Hi All

The Performance Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team of Dylan Turner and Sara Warrington had a weekend of ups and downs competing in the Hella Battery Town Rally of Rotorua,

Friday morning dawned fine but very cold, which caused a few issues for many competitors, including Dylan and Sara.

"We went to start the car to head to the start control, and it wouldn't start. It kept fouling the plugs and no amount of towing or changing the plugs would get it going. In the end it finally fired, but we had lost 13mins fixing it, and 2min 10sec of time penalties, which dropped us to the back of the field before we even hit the stages" explained Turner.

The team went on to set stage times just outside the top ten for the rest of the day, and were lying 12th o/a in the National Championship field before stage 7, Rakauroa.

Unfortunately, that was to be the end of the event for the team, as they coasted across the finish line with only fumes in the fuel tank due to a miscalculation of how much fuel they needed to get to service. With 20 plus kilometres of touring left we had no option but to withdraw.

"It was a bit of a disappointment, as we were setting good stage times, even with the added problem of passing cars in front, which at times proved a little dicey, as some of the overseas crews did not pull over, they just stopped in the middle of the road. All in all Sara and I had a great run through the afternoon stages, the car was handling exceptionally well."

"We decided at Matawai to re-start on day two, and have a bit of fun in the forests and see how our new rear suspension setup worked in the rough stages. Once again we were setting times just outside the top ten, on old tyres and not taking any risks", said Turner.

The car will now go back to Auckland to be prepared and re-tuned for the next round. This is the Bayswater Vehicles Rally of Hawkes Bay on the 30-31st July in the Wairoa District Council area & Pan Pac Forest comprising 170km of special stages and 382km of touring.

Make sure your watching the highlights on TV3 Sunday 25th July 4pm (The team had a moment on one of the bridges on Motu).

The team would like to thank the our sponsors for the 2004 Parker-ENZED New Zealand Rally Championship, Performance Finance and Leasing, LJ Hooker Manurewa, AB Panel and Paint, Kempy's Bitsa Mitsi, and Chiropractic and Sport."

Til next time.
