Hi All
The Performance
Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team of Dylan Turner and
Sara Warrington head to sunny Nelson for the 5th round of the 2004
Parker-ENZED New Zealand Rally Championship, the Mincorp & Total
Rally of Nelson.
"We are
really looking forward to the Nelson event. We have the oldest car
in the Group N championship, and at each round we have made a step
forward with the handling and stage times, and we want to step it
up again at Nelson," explains Turner.
"I haven't
driven the roads, but from what I have heard from others who did
last years event, the roads should suit our car's setup so we will
are looking for a top 10 finish to improve our championship points
in both the Rookie and Group N classes".
"Nelson
also gives us a chance to have a more level playing field, as not
many drivers have done it. We are seeing the roads for the first
time like most of the others in our class, whereas on most other
events, we have been doing the roads for the first time, whilst
others have done them 3 or 4 times in years past".
Since the wet
event in Napier, the car has spent considerable time having the
engine misfire traced, along with the usual between event service
and updates of the suspension and engine.
"Gary from
Gary Capper Performance found our fuel pump which was only two events
old had been causing the car to lean out at high rev's, so that
explains our lack of power and the misfire at Hawkes Bay, where
much like Richard Mason, we were way down on horsepower."
The team arrives
in Nelson on Friday afternoon, with recce on Saturday and the rally
proper starts on Sunday morning with first car due to leave at 7.30am
and due back at the Wearable Arts and Collectable Cars Complex at
3.45pm. For Mincorp and Total Rally of Nelson Information - www.nelsoncarclub.co.nz
