Hi All
The Performance
Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team of Dylan Turner and
Sara Warrington had a quick exit from the Nelson Rally.
"Approximately
20km into stage one, 4th gear started to vibrate and rumble and
5km further on we lost 4th gear totally. We managed to get to service,
then the gearbox seized in the service park, 75m from our service.
The guys had to grab a jack and drag the car into the service."
"A huge
thanks to Andrew Hawkeswood and his team for firstly lending us
a gearbox; and secondly his team of Norm, Mal and Evan for helping
us to try and change the box in time to get us back out. Unfortunately
we ran out of time, and had to withdraw", explains Turner.
The team then
packed up and spent the afternoon watching the action on the stages
while the car was transported back to Nelson.
"We have
learnt a lot this year, and the team as a whole have stepped up
from our first event in Dunedin. Over the last 5 events Sara and
I have got more and more performance out of the Performance Finance
& Leasing /Turner Motorsport EVO 5, which would probably be
the oldest car in the championship. It's been a fantastic experience,
and we look forward to the challenge in a more competitive car next
year, so watch this space."
"Our year
would not have been possible without the support from our team of
sponsors; Performance Finance and Leasing, LJ Hooker Manurewa, AB
Panel and Paint, Kempy's Bitsa Mitsi, Dunlop and Chiropractic and
Sport. We would also like to thank TV3 for the great coverage we
have had this year at each round."
For budget reasons
the team have decided to not run at the next round, the tarmac event
in Hamilton, to focus on developing a new challenge for next year.
The car is now back in Auckland, and will be readied for it's last
outing at the Rally of the North, on the 9th October based in Paihia.
Til next time.
