The Performance
Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team of Dylan Turner and
Sandy Bansal had a great result on the opening round of the 2005
Parker ENZED New Zealand Rally Championship.
They arrived
in downtown Auckland on Sunday afternoon 31st o/a, 4th Kiwi, 3rd
NZ Group N and 6th o/a in the National Championship point's standings.
Day 1 was a
dream run and with others around them finding their limits, the
Performance Finance & Leasing /Turner Motorsport team had a
faultless day to finish 39th o/all and 6th in class.
Looking to repeat
and build on the previous day's results, the second day started
out badly, with turbo failure.
"We were
about 2 km into the first of three stages and we lost boost so we
just cruised through the 3 stages loosing 7-8mins on our competitors",
explains Turner.
At the 30min
service the team changed the turbo and got the car back out in the
afternoon to attack the stages and try and regain some lost ground.
"The turbo
failure lost us lots of time, but we re-grouped and came back with
a new goal, to cement our points and go for the finish", commented
Turner.
"I would
like to thank my service team of Sean Gray, Ian Tegg, Garry Capper,
Bill Turner, Sara Turner and Simon Bell for the hard work they put
in before and during the event."
