Hi All
The Turner Motorsport
team of Dylan Turner and Sandy Bansal finished this weekends Rally
of Otago on high with the teams new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
9 proving a competitive package.
Starting 14th
on the road on Day 1, the team flew through the 1st stage to be
4th overall at the stage finish just over 11 secs behind stage winner
Richard Mason.
"I was
fairly nervous going into the first stage, it was the great unknown
how good the car really was. But to come out 11sec behind Richard
was a great start for us and proved the new car was worth the investment"
explains Turner.
The rest of
day saw the team battling for 6th spot with Todd Bawden and Brett
Martin. A mistake early on at a junction in stage 2 lost the team
a large chunk of time; in the end costing them 6th place. The team
finished 8th overall NZRC for day 1 with the highlight being the
4th overall on stages 1 and 7.
"After
the finish on Saturday night we sat down thought about how we could
improve the handling to get some time back on the front runners."
"With no
dog box and only a standard rear diff we were giving away a bit
of time so we had to look at the suspension setup and alignment."
says Turner.
On Sunday Gary
Capper made some small changes to the set up at the first service,
which made the car easier to drive, with the team ending Day 2 in
6th place.
With Rotorua
the next rally on the calendar, the car will be back to Gary Capper
Performance to have the dog box and higher spec rear diff installed
plus the usual pre-event service.
The team would
like to thank our sponsors for 2006 - LJ Hooker Manurewa, PDL, Schneider
Electrical, Dunlop, Gary Capper Performance and Chiropractic and
Sport.
Til next time.
