The King of Tarmac has been found!!
Day
One:
Head Road, Cambridge. An exciting piece of road with tight and twisty
off camber blind brows into 5Rights (always scary) and a 3Left -
tightens off camber.
First run 2mins
even. Marty did a 2min 04sec, Anton Tallot 1min 59sec, Rosser and
Evans 1min 57sec. Run 2 was a little better with a 1min 59sec but
on run 3 we did a 2min 02sec, and were a little untidy.
Top Ten Shootout
We managed to bring our times down to 1min 58sec. Most others were
a 1min 55sec, but Marty and Daynom were in the high 1min 40secs.
I pushed the
car as hard as the tyres would let me and we were still off the
pace, so Sara and I knew that Day Two was not going to go our way,
as it had much longer straights.
Day Two:
What a fantastic road, approx. 9km and an average speed of 137km/hr.
Anton Tallot saw 260km/hr on the final straight to the finish, we
got up to 210km/hr, and that's fast enough. The road had a couple
of awesome junctions (90' Rights). There was also a chicane that
was at the end of a rev-limiter straight, past a 6Right. Before
the chicane there was bit of loose gravel to watch out for and then
straight into the chicane.
There weren't
too many crashes (suprise, suprise). 1st run through we did a 4min
46sec the a 4min 40sec run on the second time through. The last
run of the qualifiers we got a slow puncture and clocked 4min 42sec
and that dropped us out of the top 10 overall.
Top Ten Shootout
We pushed rally hard as I was getting to know the road a bit more
and came out with a 4min 38sec run, which we were really happy about
but next time the restrictor comes off!!!! . Marty and Daynom got
down to a 4min 08sec and a 4min 09sec which I take my hat off to
them for, it was real commitment.
Congratulations
to Daynom the true "King of Tarmac".
Til
the next event...
Thx
